For the next illustration friday I brought out some of my 'nature collection' to draw from. I actually have a bit more than this but these are my favorite items. Ironically all of these I've found in urban/city locations, so I can only imagine what my collection would look like if I went treasure hunting in the woods more.

This green beetle was all in one piece when I originally found it but years of moving and being jostled around in the tin got it crushed (I took the photo by the window for better light, the metallic coloring is really cool):

This was my work in progress for illustration friday's "tall", but I think I'm just gonna completely redo it (I got really over-excited by the new rapidograph pens I got, I'm just gonna redo it with collage) :/

It's also inspired by the song empire state humaaannn (tall tall tall I wanna be tall tall tall...)

Freeze for Illustration Friday

Here's my post for illustration friday's 'freeze'! I wish I had a scanner because I go crazy overboard with the color when editing a photo in Photoshop.

I'm gonna be posting my illustration fridays and other stuff here more often because the new ill-fri doesn't jive well with my tumblr blog. I haven't really decided if I should use one or the other more so for now I'll be using both for pretty much everything :]

Just had a reception for our illustration show a few days ago! Here's some work I had up:

I also had on display my Astro-man and Alien but I took way better photos of those guys at the beach:

It's important to me to save (some people say "hoard") things that have been tossed away or left behind like that hubcap on Astro-man's face. So everything is made of free items (dumpster divin) and scrap materials.

Wizard of Oz House...With Legs

My piece for the Wizard of Oz theme show at my school! It was fun to make and I won a giant lollipop for it...

Henrietta

I wanted to make Henrietta from Mr.Rogers Neighborhood but I couldn't remember what her house looked like...I mean I know it was in a tree but I couldn't find any reference photos to refresh my memory of some details. So I just mashed up what I could remember from the show.

I found these cool shaped scraps of wood in the wood shop that look like rocket ships...so I painted them like so...
